I recently came across an interesting message from the early chapters of the Bible. It seems that God has used subtle ways to deliver His promise to us from the beginning.
In Genesis 5 is found a genealogy of our earliest ancestors. Beginning with Adam (5:5) and continuing through Noah, God has revealed His plan of redemption. A close look at the meaning of the names of these people reveals God’s plan:
Adam means Man
Seth means appointed
Enosh means mortal
Cainan means sorrow
Mahalalel means blessed God
Jared means shall come down
Enoch means teaching
Methuselah means His death shall bring
Lamech means despairing
Noah means rest
The reading of the names in order in light of their meaning says, Man is appointed mortal sorrow, the blessed God shall come down and His death shall bring the despairing to rest
.
God has extended His promise of rest from the opening days of man’s creation. I love Him. He first loved me.
Incredible! I am constantly amazed at the depths of the riches in His Word! Thanks for doing the work!
Fantastic preacher. I am truly bless to have set under your teaching and to continue that blessing here.
